Florence: Day three
Choice of excursions with lunch
Excursion to Pisa and Lucca with lunch in Lucca
This tour begins with a splendid motor coach excursion
through the fertile and picturesque Tuscan countryside
to the historic city of Pisa. It is famous for its university,
architectural beauty and as the birthplace of Galileo
Galilei.
You will have a guided visit of Pisa’s center,
which is the Campo dei Miracoli with its host of monuments,
including the Baptistry, the Cathedral, the Leaning
Tower and the Camposanto. Ample free time for strolling around
the Piazza Dei Miracoli before making our way to Lucca.

The town of Lucca can boast a well-kept historical
centre, where the medieval palaces form a natural line
along the main streets.
The completely intact ring wall, built 150 years ago
and changed into a promenade, encloses a medieval city
with tight streets and lanes, old houses, towers, palaces
and over 100 churches. On request, it is possible to
enjoy a tour of Lucca on bicycles. |
Private visit of the Uffizi Gallery and Vasarian Corridor followed by cocktails and dinner in the Pitti Palace

The building of the Uffizi Gallery was commenced by
Cosimo Medici I and Giorgio Vasari, in 1560. It contains
one of the most important collections of Italian
paintings in the world, including a wonderful collection
of Botticelli.
Following the construction of the Uffizi, Cosimo I
commissioned a corridor to connect the political center
of the city with the Palazzo Pitti, the Medici residence
on the other side of the Arno.
The Vasari corridor is a raised passageway (about
1 km!) starting from the Uffizi and crossing the Arno
above the Ponte Vecchio.
The corridor houses a precious collection of self-portraits
that spans from the 17th to the 20th century. You will have the
once in a lifetime opportunity to walk through this
mysterious corridor to reach the Pitti Palace where
the reception and dinner will be served.
