Today your guide will then introduce you to the Roman
Empire, walking through what was the heart of ancient
Rome, the Forum. Walk by the Senate House, where the
destiny of the Western World was decided, and see the
very spot from which Marc Anthony delivered his famous
- "Friends, Romans, Countrymen” speech, on
the assassination of Julius Cesar.
Then make your way to the legendary Colosseum, symbol
of power and eternity of Ancient Rome, about which it
is said that “if the Colosseum should fall, Rome
and the world will follow”.
It was the largest amphitheater in the ancient world,
where heroic gladiators and fierce animals challenged
each other to the death, all for the pleasure and entertainment
of the Emperor and the public. See the Arch of Constantine
and the Arch of Titus, commemorating Roman conquests
and many battles.
Visit the Domus Aurea, Emperor Nero’s fantastic
palace with a breath taking view of the Colosseum.
Lunch will be arranged on a panoramic terrace, overlooking
the Rome of the Caesars, a place for relaxation and
contemplation above the Roman Forum in order to enjoy
one the most exclusive panoramas in Rome.

Terrace dinner in Piazza Navona

This beautiful square rises on the ancient Domitian
Stadium, whose oval shape it maintains and is one of
the most beautiful and most famous squares in Rome,
in which you can admire masterpieces by artists like
Bernini, Borromini and Giacomo Della Porta. In the square
there are three magnificent fountains: the central one,
the Four Rivers' Fountain made by Bernini; the lateral
ones, Moor's Fountain and Calderoni's Fountain, that
were designed by Giacomo Della Porta.

After dinner, experience a wonderful impression of
the “Eternal City”. The noise and traffic
of the day will have faded allowing you to focus on
Rome’s immortal beauty enhanced by her flood lit
monuments.
The itinerary passes through the ancient part of the
city, starting with the very well preserved Aurelian
City Walls (272 AD) and continuing through the Renaissance
center, to the old entrance of Rome, Piazza del Popolo,
the ancient center with its Seven Hills, the eternal
monuments such as the Colosseum, the Imperial Forum,
Piazza Venezia and the imposing tomb of the Unknown
Soldier, the Circus Maximus, the temples of the "Virile
Fortune", the Arch of Janus, the Theatre of Marcellus
and Trajan’s column. |
